Receiving the Community A.L.E.R.T. youth award at two different times in my life shaped me in becoming the young man I am today. The first time I was a recipient I was an elementary student and the acknowledgment produced confidence at a time when I was an avid tattletale. When acknowledged the second time as a graduating high school senior at Belmont University Curb Center in 2005 I was excited my high school matriculation ended with an exclamation point with my peers and parents cheering me on.Thank you Community A.L.E.R.T. for providing a glimpse of what life can be when led by God and desiring to help others.

I have been involved with Community A.L.E.R.T over 10 years as a parent and supporter. This organization encourages a home, community and school partnership. The members of the committee invite speakers to the annual event who motivate students to become good citizens. The speakers share personal stories about values, morals and ethics. Receiving an award from Community A.L.E.R.T helps students improve academic achievement and school performance. When a student is recognized they are provided with the foundation necessary to excel in higher education, work and life.

It takes a village to raise a child is a famous quote that we have all heard. Community A.L.E.R.T. is that village. When others tell children by their actions there is no need to dream, Community A.L.E.R.T. through strong actions taken each year to recognize those who usually are not recognized, as well as the ones who are, says to the children never let go of your dreams – believe in your dreams because they were given to you for a reason – you have purpose. Thank you Community A.L.E.R.T. for all that you do. By embracing the children, you have made our village stronger.
